Dear Martin: At a certain point during the Kalachakra initiation, all participants must be blindfolded. Some elected to just keep the red strip of cloth on their foreheads and close their eyes (which made them look like sleeping Maoists) - the nuns were among the only ones who took it literally.
Of course the fact that I was up taking photos meant that I was not able to participate in everything to the letter, but then I was able to bring these images to Those Of You At Home.
